Easter Learning Journey - Let's Travel!!

Today I finished off week 2 day 3 of the Easter Learning Journey. It was pretty difficult picking only two people to take, but I had pretty descent reasons why I wanted to take these two.

ELJ - Let’s start traveling

Traveling back
to my home land!
- Cook islands

You will need: Lavalava (Pareo),
of course some clothing, a few jewelry,
and a buddy or two. 

Honestly, I think the main thing you need
to know is that our people are always happy.
When you see someone greet them with a
“Kia Orana” and they’ll say it back to you,
and that’s everywhere. If someone says
“pe ea koe?” that means they are asking
“how are you”. If there is a performance
and someone grabs you to dance with them,
just go. If you don’t the Cook Island people
take that as a disrespect, cause we love new
people we haven’t seen to join us. The main
thing you gotta know is to not be scared to
not be scared wearing a pareo or a lavalava out.
This is because everyone does that,
even when you see the little ones.

Easter Learning Journey (#ELJ)

Day 1

Week 2: Welcome back to the second and last week of Easter Learning Journey. Isolation is still happening, and we all have 2 more weeks to go. Let's have some Isolation fun, and see if you can make something fun for us and your family.

For this task we had to make a family tree. We can expand out tree to include our siblings and our parents siblings. After we had completed the tree, we had to fill in the names and places they belong to in our lives. We then had to write down the persons culture.

Here is my family tree. So originally I was supposed to add my great grandparents, but my dad doesn't know his grandparents names. I was about to add in my parents siblings, but my mum and dad have too many siblings, therefore I couldn't cause all the siblings would've taken up all the space. So on my dad's side of the family he's got around 5 feeding siblings and 2 biological siblings. As for my mum. She had around 14 siblings, but sadly 3 passed away. So now she's got 11 more siblings. I have a very close cousin who's mum is the second to last sibling out of my mum's siblings, and for my mum. She's the youngest. I can't really keep count of how many step siblings she's got, including my dad. At the bottom you will be able to see me and my siblings, including my older brother's baby boy. My little monkey Armani. As you can also see, my grandmother from my mum's side of the family is Tahitian and my grandmother on my dad's side of the family is Hawaiian, and the rest is all Cook Island. My brother's baby is 2 months now and is Cook Island, Tahitian, Hawaiian, and lastly Samoan.

ELJ - Activity 2 - Redesign NZ flag

Today I finished my day 2 activity. We had to redesign the New Zealand flag and to spread hope to everyone through this rough time. The New Zealand flag was made in March 1834 by Albert Hastings Markham.I know the holy Christ is looking over us all and making sure all of us are looking after each other. So for my I have added a few things. So I put a triangle on my flag because to me it represents our mountains (Maunga).  In the middle of the mountain I put New Zealand in the middle to represent the whole island, and everyone and thing that's in it right now. On the left I put on the New Zealand fern to represent the plants and animals in New Zealand, cause i'm a nature loving person. Last but not least on the right. So on the right I put on the four stars because I just wanted to add something from the flag.
