New Zealand Order Of Merit

Burt believes in living local, learning global — EducationHQThis morning was very special to our principle. During our lock-down in New Zealand Mr Burt got a special call  from.... THE QUEEN!! She was honoring him for his amazing work as principle of Pt England School and decided to give him a New Zealand Order Of Merit!! So today when we had our assembly one of the people from manaiakalani trust education came and talked to us about what happened. Then the chair man/woman Miss Samuels was telling us more stuff.

Soon after one of our year 8 students Pisirina said a speech. She was thanking him for all  his hard work and saying thank you on behalf of Pt England School. Later, Acera Jr (AJ F) and Freedom said separate speeches. Then all of us year 7 & 8's stood up and sang a Samoan song called Ufiufi, and then the whole school got asked to stand up together and sing Ka Waiata. After singing we call sat down and Mr Burt said a speech and started talking to his wife Miss Burt. It was so sweet, one of the girls next to me said she felt like crying.

Anyway, I'd like to give my own personal acknowledgment to Mr Burt. I know that he definitely deserves this from the Queen. He's helped so many children, even if they've had a terrible past. He's helped the ones who have passed through our school, including parents and he's helped people who are yet to come to the school. So from me personally i'd like to say congratulations and to keep up the amazing work Mr Burt.

May god bless you and your family. May you keep being blessed with all these different and FANTASTIC opportunities yet to come. Thank you for all your amazing work towards student who have been through our school, students who are still attending our school and students yet to come. Just like you have said to us, WE ARE VERY VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!
